HAVE YOU BEEN FEEL IN LOVE?
I did! In those days, we called it “crush.” However, I didn’t fully understand being in love or being in a crush. When we’re younger, especially in our teenage years, we usually meet a young boy in elementary or primary school, then high school and college. If we live in the village, we meet them somewhere in the marketplace neighborhood, and when there is a get-together, dancing sessions, celebrations, fiestas, feasts, and gatherings. Boy and girl meet together. Men and women meet in their workplace, anywhere they can meet their destiny, even under the coconut trees, near the river, and bushland.
This is when we think we fall in love with this person as your perfect lover. It’s lovely to consider when we read in the novel about our dream boy or girl as your types, such as tall, dark, and handsome, for men, pretty face, tall and well-shaped body.
The first time we met our crush, we thought, that’s it! We couldn’t sleep because we thought they were our dream person and the right one. I called it daydreaming, and it was full of fantasy. Why do we keep thinking about this person so romantic that it’s like Romeo and Juliet? We watched the movie and pictured it holding hands together and feeling we had never been this happy.
I lived in Australia for over 40 years but originally came from the Philippines. I have more stories about these issues in the other chapters.
I will tell you about my own experiences growing up. In school, I seemed attractive to men during my younger days. I am not perfect regarding my physical body, for I am short. I have this heritage from my ancestors: my mother’s side has fair skin. Primarily, our ethnic heritage as Filipinos is brown skin. It could be as they described charisma, but when I became born again Christian, I considered it as “grace” that is in me. I studied these subjects from their teachings when partnered with the ministries. So, I could have a favor in jobs and other things that seemed very advantageous in me wherever I walked in every walk in life—also, women when it comes to friendship.
It’s the moving Presence of God. One of the first things you must recognize about the Presence of God is that it’s just a place you come to visit. Exodus 33:14 says, “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.” (KJV)
In Biblical terms or spiritual stuff. Did you catch that? God said to Moses, My presence shall go with thee. With all the power and peace it brings, the Presence of God can go with you wherever you go. You can carry it to work or the grocery store, school, jobs, accommodation places, and wherever you are.
The presence of God ought to be such a tangible or fundamental part of who you are that people will notice something different about you. They even say, I don’t know what it is, but there’s something powerful about that person. That’s the presence of the God of the universe with you and in you. Me, too! I got that gift and unmerited favor in those days. Even in those days, I couldn’t understand myself. I question myself, saying, what have I got that I have this favor? I just discovered that later when I became Christian again in 2005. Something in me attracted people, not only suitors and admirers but women, to give me favors in the past. There were just changes in 2005. I seemed separated, isolated, and set apart, which I called my “silence years.” I didn’t understand at first, but when I read Psalm 31. I lost my friends because I was being set apart to be protected from the snares of the enemy and using people for rejection, persecution, and other harmful things to harass me as I studied the Bible, worshiped the Lord, and sought Him, which I was seeking and searching Him in (Matthew 6:33).
