THE PASSION OF CHRIST AND HIS RESURRECTION

Hi everyone,

While I was having a mysterious issue opening my chat on one of my social media accounts, X, I joyfully stumbled upon Mel Gibson’s profile, which was playing a video of him enthusiastically talking about his new films. I took this as an opportunity to pray to God for discernment, so that I may walk confidently in truth rather than stumble into deception. Through this encouraging, divine encounter, I asked God through the Holy Spirit what I am supposed to do: Lord, why did I come across this film I haven’t even seen yet? I know Mel Gibson is a very popular actor who used to make powerful films like this one, and I feel a hopeful prompting in my spirit to pay attention. Of course, you might say there are so many fake names out there impersonating famous people. Here…He used to live in Australia before he become famous in America, we’re born the same year but far from any connection to me. But here. Why Lord? Just be obedient and follow what I say. I want my people to know how I suffered because of their salvation.

TitleMel Gibson’s Faith and The Passion of the Christ — A Personal Reflection

As a self-publishing Christian author who writes devotionals, testimonies, and faith-building books, I have long been moved by stories that point people to the reality of Jesus Christ. Mel Gibson, the actor and director of The Passion of the Christ (2004), has been open about his Catholic Christian faith. The film he directed presents the crucifixion in a detailed, traditional way drawn from the Gospels. When I reflect on it, I am reminded of the depth of God’s love and the cost of our salvation as described in Scripture (John 3:16; Isaiah 53; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4).

Gibson has spoken publicly about his belief in Jesus and the importance of the Passion story. For many, including myself, the movie served as a powerful visual reminder that the cross is not merely history or a film scene—it is the central act of redemption. Like any public figure, his life has included struggles and controversies. Yet the Bible teaches that God uses imperfect vessels and that the message of the cross remains powerful (1 Corinthians 1:18; 2 Corinthians 4:7).

Personal note: JESUS BOOK MINISTRY: ROSELYN VAN DYK

I write this from my own faith journey. Since receiving what I believe was a clear calling to document miracles, signs, wonders, and God’s Word in books beginning in 2007, I have sought to encourage believers through Scripture, praise, thanksgiving, and personal testimony. Seeing Mel Gibson’s public witness through The Passion of the Christ stirs the same hope I try to share in my books—that one encounter with the living Word of God can draw a heart closer to Jesus. My prayer is that any person touched by his work will turn fully to Christ, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

May this reflection encourage you to open the Gospels, claim God’s promises, and walk in the victory that comes only through Jesus.

God bless you richly.
