THE POWER OF LOVE-BASED RELATIONSHIP-HIDDEN LANGUAGE OF LOVE

Hi Everyone,

I want to repost this again. There were so many readers who resonated with this book titled: The Fulfillment of Marriage, The Secret of My Marriage To Last Against The Odds, that I revised it to: The Power of Love, Love Graced Based Relationship, Ten Love Languages, and made more updates to these books, for they’re in demand. Many couples may need to read this. If you are the one, there is a purpose for it. I just checked the view; they said it resonated at 9.826 (viewers 426, -395% up; visitors 350% up; 317% responded up). I don’t know what it means, but the algorithm showed me that I have to share the Gospel in a way that reaches one soul at a time. That cheers me up! How about you? I am not just sitting there to have fun; I want to help. How? I am praying for these books that touch other lives. I prayed in my heavenly language; only God knows how to help.

According to Facebook, one of the links to this book, the blog, had a wider reach, with 8,816 unique viewers (now that stunned me in organic) and 14,584 total views over 90 days, according to their algorithm. Whatever the explanation, I was surprised they mentioned it in the results of this article. Therefore, I will reblog again, hoping to give people hope and encouragement that there is something beyond, with the help of the Almighty God, to help you in times of need. The reason might be that many viewers of this blog come from WordPress.com blogs. That needs to promote visibility, exposure, and awareness. I am not surprised by the worldwide societal issues in relationships; it’s very complicated. God used my marriage experience to tell and share with the world. If I can do it, you can do it with a disabled husband who has reached 42 years in my blessed marriage, which has to be a love-based relationship.

As you can see, there are many changes to these books. I revised them to protect myself from copyright infringement, since I had originally excerpted material from my husband’s writing in *Reader’s Digest* in May 1982. I am still building on my original book, “The Fulfillment Marriage – The Secret of My Marriage to Last Against the Odds,” which remains the masterpiece of my married life experience, but I have updated it by adding additional marriage counseling and other resources. I have written this in my own voice and from my own perspective to avoid any infringement. If you are interested, you can still look up my husband’s story about “The Tragic Dive at Mossman River,” which shares a similar theme, though I have revised it here as my own. This is to protect myself and preserve the original details about the book, copyright, and the Mossman River story, but the rest of the story changed because Amazon (KDP) reformatted the books when they were combined into one. The page numbering has been changed to Roman numerals to support me and other modified books.

BECOMING A WIFE AND CARER

When I married Ernst, I did not enter an ordinary marriage. I entered a home where love, family, disability, practical responsibility, and daily adjustment were already woven together. Becoming his wife also meant becoming someone who would assist, support, observe, adapt, and learn how to care in ways I had not fully imagined before.

This chapter is about that part of my story. It is not only about physical care. It is about the emotional, spiritual, and practical work of learning how to love a disabled husband with patience, respect, compassion, and dignity. It is also about learning that caregiving is not weakness or punishment; it can become a place where grace, strength, and maturity grow.

Entering a New Role

I came to Australia as a young woman entering a new country, a new household, and a new family situation. Ernst was independent in many ways, but his body carried the lasting effects of the accident. I had to learn what he could do, what he needed help with, what tired him, what frustrated him, and what gave him confidence.

At first, I did not understand everything. I was learning as I went. I had to adjust to his routines, his careful ways, his physical limitations, and the household he had already built before I arrived. But I also learned that he was not helpless. He had intelligence, discipline, humor, courage, and wisdom. My role was not to treat him as incapable, but to support him while honouring his dignity.

The Daily Work of Care

Care often happens in small, ordinary ways. It may mean preparing meals, helping with household tasks, noticing when the other person is tired, adjusting plans, being patient with slower movement, making the home safer, or simply staying close enough to be available. These things may not look dramatic, but they become acts of love when they are done faithfully.

There were also emotional adjustments. Sometimes I felt unsure, overwhelmed, or misunderstood by people who looked only at the outside of our situation. Some saw difficulty and wondered why I stayed. But they did not see the companionship, the conversations, the quiet support, the shared meals, the decisions we made together, and the grace that held our home.

Caregiving Was Not One-Sided

Although I helped Ernst physically, he helped me in many other ways. He supported me with decision-making, household management, practical wisdom, financial care, conversation, and encouragement. He became a steady presence in my life. I may have helped him with tasks he could not easily do, but he also helped me carry burdens I could not carry alone.

This is why I do not see our marriage as a one-way sacrifice. Love made us partners. Grace helped us recognize each other’s strengths and weaknesses. I gave what I could, and he gave what he could. Together, we built a life that outsiders could not fully understand.

The rest of this chapter will continue exploring what caregiving taught me about patience, communication, humility, exhaustion, dignity, and the kind of love that serves without losing hope.

Patience in the Hidden Places

Caregiving taught me patience in places others might not always see. It taught me to slow down, wait, repeat instructions, adjust plans, and accept that some days would not move according to my own timetable. At times, I wanted things done quickly or in my own way, but love required me to consider Ernst’s physical limits, his routines, and his need for dignity.

Learning to Communicate with Care

Because I am naturally talkative and expressive, I had to learn the value of listening. Ernst was quieter, more analytical, and more careful with decisions. At first, I sometimes interpreted his corrections and suggestions as criticism. Over time, I learned that communication in caregiving must be gentle, clear, honest, and patient. It is not enough to speak; we must also understand what the other person is carrying.

When Tiredness Comes

There were times when I felt tired, not because I did not love my husband, but because daily responsibility can be heavy. Caregiving can ask much of the body, mind, and emotions. I had to learn that tiredness does not mean failure. It simply means I am human. In those moments, grace helped me pause, pray, rest when possible, and keep serving from love rather than resentment.

Honouring Dignity

One of the most important lessons I learned was to help without humiliating. A disabled spouse does not need pity; they need respect, patience, practical support, and recognition of their continuing value. Ernst remained a husband, father, thinker, decision-maker, and companion. His disability changed some things, but it did not remove his dignity or his place in our home.

Healthy Boundaries and Help

Grace does not require a carer to pretend they never need support. A loving home also needs wisdom, boundaries, rest, safety, and honest communication. Sometimes help may come through family, friends, medical advice, community support, or practical adjustments in the home. Asking for help does not mean love has failed. It can mean love is protecting both people for the long journey.

Chapter Summary

This chapter shows how becoming Ernst’s wife also meant learning the daily work of care. Caregiving required patience, humility, emotional adjustment, communication, practical service, and respect for dignity. It was not one-sided sacrifice, because Ernst also supported me with wisdom, companionship, decision-making, encouragement, and steadiness. Through this season, I learned that love can serve without losing hope when grace is present.

Reflection Questions

  • Where do I need more patience in the hidden daily work of love?
  • How can I honour another person’s dignity while helping them?
  • Where do I need to communicate more gently and listen more carefully?
  • What kind of support, rest, or boundary would help me continue loving well?

Prayer

Lord, give me grace for the daily work of love. Teach me to serve with patience, speak with kindness, listen with humility, and honour the dignity of the person You have placed in my life. Strengthen carers, spouses, and families who carry hidden responsibilities. Help us receive support when needed and continue loving with wisdom, courage, and hope. Amen.
